Be a hero to a homeless pet.

Snuggles, fun and friendship await!

When you provide a foster home to an animal, you are part of a lifesaving team working to create a bright, healthy and safe future while freeing up space in our shelters for additional animals. So, what are you waiting for?

Fostering is an easy, direct and short-term way to make a lifetime of difference. It simply means temporarily opening your home to pets in need and giving them love and care while they wait to be adopted. CCARE can provide everything you need, including food, supplies, support and medical care.

Ready to start fostering? Join us!

To begin, you'll need to apply to be a volunteer. This will collect the information we need to get started. Following that, we will meet with you to review your paperwork, understand your interests and goals, and explain the training plan.  Once approved, you'll be on your way to fostering.

If you have questions and want them answered before you start the process, just give us a call. We look forward to working with you!

Top 10 Reasons Be A Foster Hero

  1. Each dog fostered in a home opens space at CCARE for us to save another animal!

  2. Preparing a homeless dog for adoption by giving your love, time, and friendship is such a rewarding feeling.

  3. You’re preparing your foster pet for life as part of a family, reducing the chances they are returned.

  4. Fostering gives dogs a more comfortable and natural place to thrive because some dogs don’t do well in a shelter.

  5. The addition of a foster dog brings immeasurable richness and joy to the household. Foster dogs will repay you for your patience and love by giving back ten times more love of their own.

  6. It’s a great way to meet new people who care about animals.

  7. Fostering can also provide certain special needs dogs with individual attention they may require.

  8. If you’re not in a position to adopt an animal now, fostering is a great way to see if you are ready for the life-long commitment involved with pet ownership.

  9. You get to learn more about each dog’s personality and needs, which in turn helps CCARE find fitting adoptive homes.

  10. When they go to their new forever home, your heart will swell with joy. What could possibly be more gratifying than to save a life and create a "happy ever after" ending?
